Changed Our Kitchen Life

Lamgaun is a small village with 21 households of Magar community about five kilometers away from Baglung Bazaar. There is a house of Mr. Buddha Thapa who has two sons and a daughter. The entire family is happy after using the modern Bayu pankhi tire 3 cooking stove that they had bought from Gautam Kirana Store Baglung.

Mr. Thapa recalled his past as, “We were four brothers, and we did not have any source of income. Hence, I decided to go to a Gulf country. After working for three years in Gulf, I returned back in my village and have been working as a skilled worker for living in my own village” Talking about the tire three (bayu pankhi) cooking stove he said,” We used to cook using the traditional mud stove. One day Mr. Gyanendra sir of DCRDC Baglung and Vijaya sir of Gautam Kirana Store showed me this modern stove and described about the advantages of using it. They asked me to fill up a form and immediately, I brought the stove. Since then we have been using this tire 3 (Biyu Pankhi) stove for about 210 days.”

He further said, “The stove cooks faster than gas stove with the fuel of small pieces of firewood which are found free of cost. We have saved 20 rupees each day totaling 600 rupees per month. My saving is 5000 rupees till the date”. He added, “After 5 months, Vijaya sir visited us again and instructed about the way to repair the stove in need. I told him the problem I was facing and he left after giving us two chargers that made me happier. I would like to thank to the organization Practical Action Nepal and DCRDC Baglung that supported us by providing the smokeless stove.” Nowadays, Mr. Thapa advises his neighbors to use the tire 3 (bayu pankhi) stove. We wish him healthy and happy life.
