A Successful Businessman Enjoying in Stove Business

Mr. Bhagirath Prasad Ghimire has two sons and his wife who was born in Malika Rural Municipality ward No. 8, Gulmi district, Nepal and now living in Barnganga Municipality ward No. 11, Kapilvastu district. He has the history of working in Jalandhar, Panjab, India earning Rs. 600 per month after completing his college education and not getting suitable job in Nepal. Returning back to Nepal from India, he taught in a primary school of his village getting Rs. 500 per month for a year. He has the bitter experience of following the leaders, serving the like the slave and involving in their election campaign. Later he worked as an office secretary and sub-overseer in the office of his Village Development Committee for four years. Meanwhile, he knew that The Village Technical Center had launched the improved cooking Stove program. He got an opportunity to work in that organization where he spent seventeen years roaming in various districts of Nepal.

After not seeing any substantial changes in life even after passing long term employee’s life he diverted his mind towards business. He started the cooking stove supplying business under the support of GIZ/Practical Action connecting in the project of Result Based Fund for Sustainable Market development in Nepal facilitated by DCRDC in three districts: Baglung, Gulmi and Arghakhachi. As a stove supplier, he distributed 7300 stoves in RBF project implemented districts and 600 in other districts totaling 7900 stoves within three years. The business made him earn Rs. 300000 (Three hundred thousand rupees) providing partial employment to 40 females and males. He has connected his business with social service as well. He supports the users instructing them about the way to use and repair the stove via various orientation programs in collaboration with different financial groups, cooperatives, local mother’s group and local governments. We wish him for further contribution with such bio-energy stoves for easing and improving the health of the community people.

People, especially the women are still using the traditional mud and bio-mass stove with woods, dried dung that produces maximum smoke because of which they have been the victim of various diseases. He aims to sell the induction stoves in future because there is high probability of producing enough electricity in Nepal. He has also planned to sell the pots required for such electric stones.
